DECEMBER 1994 <br /> QUARTERLY STATUS REPORT <br /> GREYHOUND TERMINAL <br /> STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA <br /> • Status of investigation and cleanup activities: <br /> On May 13, 1991, the entire fueling system at the facility, consisting of one <br /> 12,000-gallon diesel UST and associated piping, was removed and all fueling <br /> activities were discontinued (Appendix B, June 1992 Quarterly Status Report) <br /> A preliminary site investigation was completed by Engineering-Science, Inc <br /> (ES) in October 1991 The investigation included installation of three <br /> monitoring wells The Preliminary Site Investigation report was submitted to <br /> the Environmental Health Division of the San Joaquin County Department of <br /> Public Health Services (EHD) and Regional Water Quality Control Board <br /> (RWQCB) personnel on November 27, 1991 (Appendix C, June 1992 Quarterly <br /> Status Report) <br /> A groundwater monitoring program consisting of monthly observations of <br /> groundwater levels and pertinent observations of the monitoring wells, and <br /> quarterly groundwater sampling and reporting, was established by Greyhound <br /> Lines, Inc (Greyhound) m June 1992, and approved by EHD in a letter dated <br /> September 29, 1992 This program, modified as noted below, is still in <br /> progress The purpose of the groundwater monitoring program has been to <br /> determine if groundwater has been impacted at the facility <br /> During the week of January 18, 1993, Greyhound installed additional soil <br /> borings and collected soil samples to completely define the extent of <br /> contamination at this location The borings were installed in accordance with <br /> the Work Plan dated October 28, 1992 and approved in a telephone discussion <br /> between Mr Michael Infurna of EHD and David Nickerson of ES on <br /> December 8, 1992 Results of the supplemental soil boring program were <br /> submitted to EHD and RWQCB in a Supplemental Site Assessment report on <br /> April 1, 1993 <br /> On July 22, 1993, EHD approved the replacement of the quarterly <br /> sampling/monthly monitoring program a biannual monitoring and groundwater <br /> sampling program <br /> Based on a letter from EHD to Greyhound dated January 26, 1994, in which <br /> EHD expressed concerns that the full extent of soil contamination had not yet <br /> been defined, Greyhound prepared and submitted a second Supplemental Site <br /> Assessment Work Plan in June 1994 for the purpose of defining the extent of <br /> soil contamination on-site EHD approved the work plan in a faxed <br /> transmission to ES on June 28, 1994, Greyhound implemented the second <br /> Supplemental Site Assessment in August 1994 A total of 8 soil borings were <br /> installed to depths ranging between 45 and 51 5 feet during the investigation <br /> PARESSYR01WOL1 WP1725218108969108969LO7 DOC R2 <br /> 1 <br />
