The clarified water is collected through a submerged orifice/trough
arrangement. The trough dumps into the Lamella Settler effluent box and
discharges by gravity, to the existing Flow Equalization Basin.
Chemical dosing rate for the caustic will be controlled automatically
based on pH in the flash mix chamber by adjusting the pump stroke
length.
Coagulant and polymer dosing will also be controlled automatically by
adjusting pump stroke length. Pump stroke length is manually adjustable
at the main control panel using the electronic ratio control station to
provide additional flexibility.
2.2 DESIGN CRITERIA
The treatment system was designed on the basis of the untreated water
with parameters as stated below:
Untreated Parameter (num except as noted)
Flow Rate (gpm) 260 continuous
300 max. flow
100 min. flow
Untreated Turbidity (NTU) 10-65
Total Suspended Solids (TSS) 1000 max.
pH (S.U. ) 4-12
Temperature 60°-85° F
The projected average guaranteed treated water quality is as follows:
Treated Parameters (ppm except as noted)
Turbidity Less than or
equal to 2
This turbidity reduction has been shown in previous testing to be
adequate for required arsenic removal.
11654 2-3
VLS120588
