MCTC Response:
Additional sample locations 5-23 and S-24 will be included in
Work Plan revisions ajnd specifications for sampling efforts.
Analytical requirements will be modified to add chemical
constituents and physical characteristics suggested, and delete
waste extraction tests as suggested since these tests are
unnecessary for characterization purposes.
The term "mutually acceptable maximum background level"
referenced in this citation did not refer to the average
background levels calculated in the 1985 Soil Assessment Plan
Report. In this citation, the intended meaning was that MCTC
wished to work toward establishing a total concentration for each
constituent which would "trigger" performance of waste extraction
tests. Since the waste extraction tests will be deleted for
characterization purposes, this statement will be deleted also.
DNS Comment:
Page 4-6 Table 4-1:
Add locations "S-23" and "S-24" to Table 4-1. Analysis to
be performed on samples collected at the surface and at
0.25, 0.5, 1.0, and 2.0 feet below land surface.
Table 4-1 should also indicate the additional sampling
depths specified above for locations N-5, N-6, N-7 , and N-9.
MCTC Response:
Table 4-1 will be revised to incorporate additional sample
locations and depths for S-23 and S-24 . Table 4-1A will be added
for specifying deeper samples from locations N-5, N-6, N-7 and
N-9.
DHS Comment:
Page 4-7 Last paragraph, first sentence:
After the word "horizontal" , add "and vertical".
MCTC Response:
The sentence will be revised to read as follows: "Results of the
Phase III groun6water assessment did not fully define the
horizontal and vertical extent of the contaminant plume in the
aquifer. "
DS Comment:
Page 4-8 ^op of page_, first sentence:
After "necessary to plan", add "and monitor" .
11654 4
