SECOR
International Incorporated
November 28, 2001
Project 077.43445.331 ( 'YEp
Rebecca Setliff NOV 2 9 2001
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Division ENMR,}4 VENT HEALTH
304 East Weber Avenue, Third Floor PEllt"; f"ERVIr.ES
Stockton, California 95202
Re: Addendum to Work Plan for Feasibility Testing/
Corrective Action Plan Preparation
Chevron Service Station#9-0557
139 South Center Street
Stockton, California
Dear Ms. Setliff:
SECOR International Incorporated (SECOR), on behalf of Chevron Products Company
(Chevron), presents this addendum to the Work Plan For Feasibility Testing/Preparation
Corrective Action Plan Preparation (the Work Plan), dated June 1, 2001, for the above
referenced site (Figure 1). The San Joaquin County Environmental Health Division
(SJCEHD) approved the Work Plan on June 11, 2001. This addendum to the Work Plan has
been prepared to outline the performance of an additional feasibility test to assist in the
evaluation of potential groundwater remedial alternatives for the site. SECOR proposes to
perform an ozone sparging (OS)pilot test, in addition to the aquifer testing and dual-phase
extraction testing, which was proposed in the Work Plan. This addendum includes a
discussion of the rationale and scope for the OS pilot test, as well as a revised schedule for
completion of feasibility testing and preparation of the Corrective Action Plan (CAP).
OZONE SPARGING PILOT TESTING
Overview of Ozone Sparging
Ozone is a strong oxidant capable of reacting with hydrocarbons in the gas and dissolved
liquid phases. Previous work has documented the degradation of many constituents by
ozone, including chlorinated and petroleum hydrocarbons. The treatment process forms non-
toxic dissolved by-products including water and carbon dioxide.
3017 Kilgore Road, Suite 100, Rancho Cordova, CA 95670 916.861.0400 916.861.0430 Fax www.secor.com
