Section 15C - MISCELLANEOUS VALVES <br /> 15C-1. SCOPE. This section covers all valves, except where specific <br /> requirements are stipulated in other sections. <br /> 15C-2. GENERAL. <br /> 15C-2.01 . Manual Operators. All valves, except those which are equipped <br /> with power actuated operators or are designed for automatic operation, <br /> shall be provided with manual operators. <br /> 15C-2.02. Lever Operators. Unless otherwise shown or specified, <br /> butterfly valves shall be lever operated. Operating levers shall be <br /> furnished for each lever valve. <br /> 15C-2.03. Rotation. The direction of rotation of the wheel , wrench nut, <br /> or lever to open the valve shall be to the left (counterclockwise) . Each <br /> valve body or operator shall have cast thereon the word "OPEN" and an <br /> arrow indicating the direction to open. <br /> 15C-2.04. Length Tolerance. Actual length of valves shall be within <br /> 1/16 inch (plus or minus) of the specified or theoretical length. <br /> 15C-2.05. Ends. Unless otherwise specified or shown on the drawings, <br /> all valves shall have threaded or welding ends as required by the piping <br /> system in which the valve is to be installed. Unless otherwise indicated <br /> on the drawing, flange diameter and drilling shall conform to ANSI B16. 1 , <br /> Class 125 or ANSI 816.5, Class 150. Push-on and mechanical joints shall <br /> conform to ANSI A21.11. Wafer style valves shall be designed for <br /> installation between ANSI Class 125 flanges. <br /> 15C-2.06. Shop Painting. All ferrous metal surfaces of valves and <br /> accessories, both interior and exterior, shall be shop painted for <br /> corrosion protection. The valve manufacturer's standard paint will be <br /> acceptable provided it is functionally equivalent to the specified paint <br /> and is compatible with the specified field painting. <br /> a. Materials. <br /> Asphalt Varnish Fed Spec TT-V-51 . <br /> Coal Tar Koppers "Bitumastic Super Service <br /> Black" , Tnemec "46-449 Heavy Duty <br /> Black" or Valspar "35-J-10 <br /> Hi-Build Bituminous Coating.
