Former ARCO Station #4493 Site Code: 1042
205 Center Street
Stockton, CA 95202
In correspondence dated January 24, 2007 the EHD notified you that Regional Water Quality
Control Board representatives informed the EHD t, at they do not consider this site a
candidate for regulatory closure due to the fluctuating and increasing concentrations of
petroleum hydrocarbon contaminants reported in gra l ndwater samples collected from wells
MW-4, MW-8M and MW-8D. The EHD recommended that the responsible parties consider
conducting interim remediation of these wells.
On September 29, 2008, a phone conference was held between yourself, your consultant
Stantec Consulting Corporation and the San Joaquin County Environmental Health
Department (EHD) to discuss this issue. It was agreEed that beginning with the 3rd Quarter
2008 groundwater monitoring and sampling event the field technicians would conduct interim
batch extraction by performing an `over-purge" of theEse three wells; specifically they would
pump a total of up to 400 gallons of groundwater combined from the three target wells. The
ability of the wells to sustain pumping rates will be evaluated during the first event. Initially
the batch extractions will be conducted on a quarterly basis to determine the impact to
contaminant concentrations, and may be increased to €monthly.
If you have any questions please call Lori Duncan at (209) 468-0337.
Sincerely,
Lori Duncan, REHS Margaret gorio, REHS
Senior Registered Environmental Health Specialist Program Coordinator
c: James Barton, CVRWQCB, 11020 Sun Center Drive, #200, Rancho Cordova, CA 95670
Brian Westhoff, SECOR, 3017 Kilgore Rd., # 100, Rancho Cordova, CA 95670
