This report summarizes technical activities <br /> conducted by PG&E in compliance with the order during the quarter from <br /> January to March 1992, and activities planned for the current and <br /> subsequent quarters. <br /> (a) Technical Activities Performed During Previous Quarter <br /> PG&E submitted revisions to the RI/FS Workplan on January 3 and <br /> March 9. Final approval of the Workplan was received from DTSC on <br /> March 26. <br /> All planned RI/FS field activities including installing borings <br /> and monitoring wells and sampling surface soils, subsurface soils, <br /> and groundwater were completed this quarter. Monthly water level <br /> monitoring was initiated in March and will be continued for one <br /> year as specified in the Workplan. <br /> The results of soil sampling at Morton Paint Company (Area III) <br /> were received and transmitted to the property owner. <br /> PG&E submitted the results of the December surface soil sampling <br /> on the Hazelton Avenue strip to DTSC on January 15 with the <br /> recommendation that additional samples be collected east of the <br /> Center Street Overpass. The results of additional sampling were <br /> reported to DTSC on February 6. PG&E recommended that a concrete <br /> cover be placed over the embankment adjacent to PG&E's property, <br /> and DTSC concurred. The concrete cover was designed, project <br /> specifications were prepared, and permits obtained. <br /> The Draft RI Report outline was prepared and approved by DTSC. <br /> Preparation of the Draft RI Report was started. <br />
