Mr. Val F. Siebal -2- April 15, 1992
(b) Technical Activities Expected in Current Quarter
During the current quarter, April to June 1992, PG&E plans to
complete the Draft RI Report for submittal to DTSC on July 13.
Phase 2 RI/FS field activities will be conducted, as agreed to by
PG&E and DTSC. Three rounds of monthly water level measurements
will be conducted, and one round of quarterly water quality
samples will be collected. A contractor will be selected to
construct the concrete cover on Hazelton Avenue, and construction
will begin in May. PG&E will begin preliminary analyses for the
Risk Assessment and Feasibility Study.
(c) Technical Activities Planned for Next Quarter
During the calendar quarter July to September 1992, PG&E will
submit the Draft RI Report to DTSC. We anticipate receiving and
responding to DTSC comments on this document, and submitting a
final RI Report in September. Work on the Risk Assessment and
Feasibility Study will proceed, and we plan to submit the Draft
Risk Assessment near the end of the quarter. Fact Sheet lit
describing the results of the RI will be prepared and distributed
to the community.
(d) Problems or Anticipated Problems in Complying with Order
No problems are anticipated in complying with the requirements of
order. Regular monthly meeting between PG&E and DTSC staff have
facilitated communications and the progress of project activities.
(e) Results of Analyses Tests or Other Data
The results of the RI and IRM field investigations were received
during the current quarter. The IRM results summarized in PG&E's
January 15 report and February 6 letter show detectable levels of
PNAs in surface soils on the Hazelton Avenue strip. The RI soil
sampling results from Area III ind4cate no elevated levels of
target compounds. Other RI soil and groundwater results are
currently being reviewed and compiled.
Please call me at (415) 973-1116 if you have any questions or require
additional information on any of the reported activities.
Sincerely,
Yvonne J. Meeks, R.G/. , C.E.G.
Manufactured Gas Plant Project
