James L. Tjosvold, P.E.
April 22,1997
Page 4
The results from the fourth quarter, 1996 groundwater monitoring were submitted to DTSC
and the RWQCB on January 31, 1997 in the"Quarterly Monitoring Report, PG&E Stockton
Former MGP Site, Fourth Quarter, 1996".
The results of the first quarterly sampling conducted in March, 1997, will be submitted to
DTSC and the RWQCB by April 30, 1997 in the"Quarterly Monitoring Report, PG&E
Stockton Former MGP Site, First Quarter, 1997'.
III. Schedule Changes:
On January 22, 1997, PG&E submitted a revised project schedule to DTSC. The schedule
was revised to allow the results of the soil and groundwater investigation conducted in
December, 1996 to be incorporated into the VLEACH model and into the FS. Additional
meetings were added to go over the VLEACH model and to obtain agreement on all
VLEACH input parameters; to go over the groundwater mixing cell model and to obtain
agreement on the input parameters for this model; to discuss soil source area volumes for
remedy; and to discuss and agree on detailed remedial alternatives.
On February 13, 1997, PG&E and DTSC had a conference call to discuss the revised
schedule. DTSC requested that the schedule be shortened by approximately four months, in
order to have an approved FS by the end of June, 1997. DTSC also suggested that PG&E
combine five, one-day meetings into two, two-day meetings. On March 10, 1997, PG&E
submitted a revised schedule based upon the February 13, 1997 conference call to DTSC.
IV. Activities Planned for Next Quarter:
A meeting to discuss soil area volumes for remedy, to develop and agree on screening of
remedial alternatives, and to discuss and agree on detailed remedial alternatives and on the
remedial measure to be presented in the FS is scheduled for April 24-25, 1997. Upon
agreement on the remedial measure, the draft FS will be developed and submitted to the
agencies for their review (currently scheduled for May 23, 1997). Agency comments on the
draft FS are currently scheduled to be given to PG&E on June 6, 1997. Delivery of the final
FS to the agencies is currently scheduled to occur on June 23, 1997, with agency approval of
the final FS expected on June 30, 1997.
The next quarterly groundwater monitoring will be conducted in June, 1997. The results of
this quarterly monitoring will be submitted to DTSC and the RWQCB by the end of July,
1997.
