James L. Tjosvold, P.E.
January 24, 1997
Page 4
III. Schedule Changes:
On August 21, 1996, PG&E submitted a revised project schedule which included action items
and agreements reached during the August 8, 1996 meeting. This schedule included
conducting additional soil borings in Area I, soil borings in Area II and the installation of an
additional Zone B groundwater monitoring well.
The August 21, 1996 schedule has been revised to allow for incorporation of the December,
1996 soil and groundwater investigation into the VLEACH model and into the FS. This
revised schedule was submitted to the agencies on January 22, 1997.
IV. Activities Planned for Next Quarter:
The soil analytical results from the December, 1996 field work will be incorporated into the
VLEACH model (creating new polygons). Additional sensitivity analysis will be performed
on the VLEACH and groundwater mixing cell models in preparation for discussions on the
final input parameters to be used in the VLEACH and groundwater mixing cell models (these
models will be used to help evaluate remedial alternatives in the FS). A conference call and a
meeting are planned to discuss the results of the December, 1996 soil and groundwater
investigation and to discuss the results of the VLEACH model which is being revised to
incorporate new soil data from the December, 1996 investigation.
Future meetings to discuss and agree on the groundwater mixing cell model; the soil volume
to be remediated; the remedial alternatives which will be screened in the FS; and the remedial
alternatives which will be carried forward for detailed evaluation in the FS are also planned.
The next quarterly groundwater monitoring will be conducted in March, 1997.
V. Results of Analyses. Tests or Other Data:
Groundwater sampling was conducted in December, 1996 and the analytical results will be
submitted to DTSC and the RWQCB by January 31, 1997 in the "Quarterly Monitoring
Report, PG&E Stockton Former MGP Site, Fourth Quarter, 1996".
If you have any questions or require additional information, please call me at (415) 973-6254.
Sincerely,
Patricia Sullivan
Project Manager Stockton Manufactured Gas Plant Site
