"I
Subject: Limited Preliminary Endangerment Assessm
L',"MIf/8ERviu .a
Former Great Western Chemical Facility
826 South Center Street
Stockton, California
Dear Ms. Johansen:
This letter contains the additional information you requested
during our telephone conversation of June 8, 1992, regarding
modifications to the June 1, 1992 Work Plan for the above-
mentioned site.
Oxidizer Storage Area
Information provided to Levine-Fricke by Great Western
indicates that an area of the site was used to store nitric
acid. Therefore, we will analyze the soil sample collected
from that area for pH only.
Background Sample
As the DTSC has requested, we are planning to sample soil for
pH analysis in an area of the site where soil is the least
likely to have been affected by previous site operations.
Depth of Soil Samples
The Work Plan originally proposed collecting two soil samples
at each sampling location, one sample at 0.5 feet below ground
surface (bgs) and one at 2.0 feet bgs. Instead, as requested,
samples will be collected at 2.0 feet bgs and 3 .0 feet bgs.
The samples collected at 3 .0 feet bgs will be held at the
laboratory pending analysis of the samples collected at 2 .0
feet bgs.
1900 Rowell Street, 12th Floor
Emeryville,California 94608
26117WOMMI.ETT:CdH (510)652-4500
Fax(510)652-2246
Other offices in Irvine.CA;socramento/Roseville,CA;Tallohossee,FL;Honolulu,HI
