Installation of six deep monitoring wells to monitor the groundwater contamination at two different zones.
Three wells will be built to 70 feet bsg;three wells will be built to 120-feet bsg.
2. Soil samples for analysis will be collected at five-foot intervals;as the proposed screen interval depths are
approached, the borings will be continuously cored to verify the CPT logs.
3. After development, the wells will be sampled and analyzed for TPH as gasoline,BTEX,fuel oxygenates, and lead
scavengers by EPA Method 8260-B.
4. The wells will be surveyed relative to mean sea level by a licensed surveyor. Groundwater elevation data will be
shared with the deep screened wells located at 441 Charter Way,a former ARCO station,to determine the
groundwater flow direction at depth.
5. A Report of Findings will be submitted to SJC/EHD within 30 days following completion of the fieldwork.
COMJ NTS AND CONDITIONS:
1. Approved fieldwork must be completed by August 9,2002.
2. If sharing of depth to water information with the ARCO site does not work out, another pair of wells will have to
be installed onsite,to triangulate the deeper zones.
3. TPHg concentrations in sod of>25,000 ppm(CPT-1,60 foot bsg sample and CPT-2,60 foot bsg sample)preclude
the use of natural attenuation as a remedial alternative at this site. Please proceed with submittal of the previously
directed work plan for feasibility testing. The work plan is due July 29,2002.
Lori Duncan,Senior REHS Nuel C.Henderson,Jr.,R.G.
LOP/Site Mitigation Unit IV LOP/Site Mitigation Unit IV
cc: Marty Hartzell,CVRWQCB
Joe Neely,Cambria
