SECOR
International Incorporated
June 11, 2002
Project No. 77CH.92033.00.0203
Mr. Margaret Lagorio
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (SJCEHD)
304 E. Weber Avenue, Third Floor
Stockton, CA 95207-0388
Re: Addendum to the Work Plan for Further Assessment
Chevron Service Station 9-2033
508 West Charter Way
Stockton, California
Dear Ms. Lagorio:
SECOR International Incorporated (SECOR), on behalf of Chevron Products Company
(Chevron), presents this addendum to SECOR's Site Assessment Report and Work Plan
for Further Assessment (the Work Plan), dated March 5, 2002, for the above -referenced
site (Figure 1). This addendum has been prepared in response to SJEHD's letter, dated
April 16, 2002, and pursuant to a discussion with Mr. Sam Savig of the SJEHD in a
meeting at the above referenced site on March 22, 2002. In addition to the work
proposed in the Work Plan, the following activities are proposed to complete the
assessment of the site:
• Well Destruction. Monitoring well MW -1 will be destroyed by over-drilling to
total depth, contents removed and grouted to surface grade with tremie-pipe.
The well box will also be removed and finished to surface grade with cement.
• Proposed Well Relocations. Proposed monitoring wells MW -4, MW -5 and
MW -6 will be relocated to the area of the former underground storage tanks
(Figure 2) to further define the vertical extent of soil contamination at the site.
Soil and groundwater samples will be collected as stated in the original Work
Plan.
• Cone Penetration Testing (CPT) Borings. Seven CPT borings will be
advanced around the perimeter of the site in the general locations shown in
Figure 2. These borings will be advanced to approximately 90 to 95 feet below
ground surface (bgs) or until rig refusal is met, to collect continuous soil
stratigraphic data at each location.
• Groundwater Sampling. Immediately adjacent to each CPT borehole, a second
direct -push borehole will be advanced to collect depth -discrete groundwater
samples. Depths of the discrete groundwater samples will be determined from
3017 Kilgore Road, Suite 100, Rancho Cordova, CA 95670 916.861.0400 916.861.0430 Fax www.secor.com
