(PACIFIC) on behalf of
Chevron Products Company (Chevron), presents a work plan for the site assessment
activities at the above site (Figures 1 and 2). This work plan has been prepared in
response to your letter, dated October 10, 1997.
As you indicated during our telephone conversation, the subject site is likely within an
area underlain by a commingled plume resulting from other documented releases
surrounding the site. The purpose of the work proposed in this work plan is to
investigate the vertical extent of previously reported hydrocarbons in soil and
groundwater in the potential source areas on the subject site. This information
combined with a file review and records research performed for the subject site and a
review of County's files of work performed for the nearby sites will be utilized to
determine the need for additional investigative work onsite and Chevron's relative
contribution to the existing hydrocarbon plume(s) beneath the site area.
This work plan includes a brief discussion of site background, previous investigations,
proposed scope of work, and schedule. Field and laboratory procedures are outlined in
Attachment A.
SITE BACKGROUND AND PREVIOUS INVESTIGATIONS
The site is an former Chevron Service Station located in a primarily commercial area at
the intersectioit of West Charter Way and South Lincoln Street in Stockton, California.
An operating Texaco Service Station is located directly east of the site (across Lincoln
Street) and an operating ARCO Service Station is located across the intersection to the
11315 Sunrise Gold Circle, Suite M, Rancho Cordova, California 95742 (916) 858-2350 FAX (916) 858-2355
