•
ATTACHMENT
THE TRANSMISSION STORE
515 CHARTER WAY,STOCKTON CA.
SITE CODE: 9321
NARRATIVE WORK DESCRIPTION
In February 1996 gasoline fuel contamination was discovered when one of two suspected Underground
Storage Tanks (UST)were removed. It is unknown when one of the two suspected UST's and dispensers
were removed from the site. The remaining UST was removed by Thorpe Oil of Lodi, CA in February of
1996. The tank removed contained what appeared to be waste oil. Both soil and groundwater were
contaminated by the tank system leaks as the gasoline fuel apparently migrated both vertically and
laterally. The full extent of impact has not yet been determined, however, the primary source as the UST's
have been removed and the UST's have to the best of our knowledge not been used since the 1950's. The
following actions were taken by EMCON which were selected to assist in the assessment and proposed
clean-up of this unauthorized fuel release. All work was approved by San Joaquin County Public Health
Services Environmental Health Division Local Oversight Program staff(PHS/EHD).
Investigation activity and Reporting details: September 17, 1996 through February 24, 1997.
EMCON observed the drilling of six soil borings B-1R through B-6R.
B-IR, 10"borehole,depth 53' bgs
B-IR completed as MW-1R with 30' of 2" Schedule 40 PVC slotted section and 22.5' of 2" PVC blank
section
Three soil borings B-3R through B-5R were converted to dual completion vapor extraction wells VW-1
through VW-3,and one soil boring was completed as a single vapor extraction well VW-4.
B-2R, 10"borehole,depth 40.5' bgs
B-3R, 8"borehole, depth 40' bgs
B-3R completed as VW-1, a dual completion vapor extraction well with 12.5' & 12.5' of 2" Schedule 40
PVC slotted section from 10.5' to 23.0' bgs & 27.5 to 40.0' bgs respectively and 10.5' and 27.5' of 2"
Schedule 40 PVC blank section.
B-4R, 8"borehole, depth 40' bgs
B-4R completed as VW-2, a dual completion vapor extraction well with 12.5' & 12.5' of 2" Schedule 40
PVC slotted section from 10.5' to 23.0' bgs & 27.5 to 40.0' bgs respectively and 10.5' and 27.5' of 2"
Schedule 40 PVC blank section.
B-5R, 8"borehole,depth 40' bgs
B-5R completed as VW-3, a dual completion vapor extraction well with 12.5' & 12.5' of 2" Schedule 40
PVC slotted section from 10.5' to 23.0' bgs & 27.5 to 40.0' bgs respectively and 10.5' and 27.5' of 2"
Schedule 40 PVC blank section.
B-6R, 8"borehole,depth 40' bgs
B-6R completed as VW-4, a single vapor extraction well completion with 20.0' of 2" Schedule 40 PVC
slotted section from 20.0' to 40.0' bgs and 20.0' of 2"Schedule 40 PVC blank section.
1
