26 July 2002
AGE-NC Project No. 97-0326
2.4. GROUND WATER DEPTH AND GRADIENT
The estimated depth to ground water at the site is approximately 35 feet below surface grade (bsg)
based on information from Lines of Equal Depth of Water Wells Spring 1999, published by the San
Joaquin County Flood Control District and Water Conservation District(SJCFCD).Based on review
of a regional ground water elevation map also published by the SJCFCD,the prevailing ground water
flow direction in the Flag City area is generally toward the east-northeast, although flow directions
may be both locally and seasonably variable.
Based on the latest ground water monitoring data, collected at the site on 08 January 2002,depth to
ground water was recorded at approximately 33.5 feet bsg, and the ground water flow direction was
inferred to be directed southeast at an approximate gradient of 0.002 ft/ft.
3.0. SCOPE OF WORK
AGE proposes to drill and install four single-level ground water monitoring wells (MW-4 through
MW-7) screened between 28 and 48 feet bsg in Hydrologic Unit 1. Additionally, AGE proposes to
install four multi-level ground water monitoring wells (MW-8 through MW-11) to depths of
approximately 150 feet bsg to characterize and delineate the vertical and lateral extent of petroleum
hydrocarbon-impacted ground water.
The scope of work will consist of the following tasks:
• Permitting, planning and pre-field work activities;
• Drilling and well installation; and
• Report Preparation.
3.1. PERMITTING AND PRE-FIELD WORK ACTIVITIES
Applicable site assessment permits will be submitted to the EHD. As required by EHD permitting,
a health and safety plan will be prepared in accordance with Occupational Safety and Health
Guidance Manual for Hazardous Waste Site Activities (National Institute for Occupational Safety
and Health Administration, U.S. Coast Guard and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, 1985).
Prior to drilling activities, each proposed drilling location will be clearly marked and a utility
clearance obtained through Underground Service Alert.
Advanced Geo Environmental,Inc.
