(CGG) on your behalf. In the letter,
your consultant, CGG, requested an extension from 27 October 2003 to 28 November 2003 to
submit a revised site conceptual model (SCM). The extension was requested to allow time to
receive documentation for a revised vapor extraction treating system and to perform a new
sensitive receptor survey. EHD notes that modification to the vapor extraction treating system can
be addressed in a separate document and that the original sensitive receptor survey should be
checked for applicability to current conditions before conducting a new survey. As the site is in an
area supplied by a municipal water system , it seems unlikely that new domestic wells have been
installed in the area . Also, a sensitive receptor survey has been completed for the 701 E. Charter
Way site which should in large part be applicable to your site, and can be reviewed by your
consultant. However, the request for the extension is approved as proposed . Please ensure that
CGG meets the new due date as further extensions are unlikely to be approved .
EHD witnessed a portion of the ground water monitoring and sampling event of 08 October 2003;
several deficiencies were noted and discussed with the sampling technician and CGG. Enclosed
is a copy of general monitoring and sampling guidelines EHD recommends to ensure high data
quality and reliability. Sampling results suspected of being unreliable or of poor quality may be
rejected by EHD and may not qualify for reimbursement by the State Cleanup Fund .
Questions or comments may be directed to Nuel Henderson by mail (address on letter head), or
by telephone at (209) 468-3436.
Donna Heran , REHS, Director
Environmental Health 'vision
dd -
/ Gz`
Nuel C.
