Charter Way, Stockton; CA
County Site Code: 1061; USTCFP Claim#6793
Dear Mr. Munch:
I
In a letter from San Joaquin County, dated July 27, 1998, !Ms. Carol Oz requested that two
additional wells be installed to define the lateral extent of soil and groundwater contamination,
both upgradient & downgradient of the site, located at Morita Brothers, 814 E. Charter Way,
Stockton, California.
To accomplish the placement of a downgradient well in a location truly downgradient of the
source of contamination, Geological Technics Inc. (GTI) had to negotiate with the property
owner east of Morita. This was completed and is attached. The upgradient well will be placed
on the west boundary of their property.
Summary of Current Corrective Action Work
1. On August 20, 1998; Wm. J. Hunter & Associates prepared a work plan to install two
additional water table monitoring wells. I
2. On February 18, 1999 a meeting was held at the site to review the proposed location of MW-
4 It was decided to move the well location:approximately 5 feet in order to place the well on
'the property rather-then in the sidewalk. "This Was done`because the City'-of'Stockton was
requesting an extensive permitting process and high fees tollplace the well in the sidewalk.
3. On February 19, 1999 GTI submitted an addendum documenting this change in location.
During the course of obtaining permission from the adjoinirg property owner for installing a
monitoring well on their property, GTI performed a groundwater monitoring of the existing
wells. This work is not included in the enclosed budget for future work, but will be included in
the next reimbursement request.
Copies of the work plan and addendum's to the Work Plan; SJC PHS/EHD correspondence,
groundwater monitoring reports, drilling bids and an itemized budget spread sheet of costs for
performing this work are enclosed for your review,
I
