(GTI) on your behalf.
The WP was prepared to address issues raised in the EHD letter of 06 September 2006. In the
WP, GTI proposes to advance a direct push boring in the center of Charter Way to obtain soil
and groundwater samples to demonstrate migration of contaminants from the 749 E. Charter
Way site (749 site) to your deep well MW-208, thereby showing that the contaminants in
groundwater samples collected from the well are not related to your unauthorized release. GTI
also proposed to collect soil gas samples and soil samples from the former tank pit area for to
evaluate the potential vapor intrusion risk.
The EHD approves the WP as proposed, but for safety reasons recommends modifying the WP
by relocating the proposed boring in the center of Charter Way to the sidewalk or parking lane
on the south side of Charter Way in a line between the 749 site and MW-208, and advancing a
second boring on the northeast corner of the Charter Way and Grant Street intersection. If you
agree, please submit a revised site map with the modified locations; if not, submit the drilling
permit application with all appropriate fees and encroachment permit to the EHD. Schedule all
field activities with the EHD at least 48 hours in advance of the planned work.
Questions or comments may be directed to Nuel Henderson at (209) 468-3436.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Health Department
Nuel C.
