Drilling, sampling and installation of seven (7) IAS injection points, Each IAS point should
be drilled to a depth of 30 feet bsg and completed using five feet ol' slotted screen . Soil
samples shall be collected at five-foot intervals (a total of 42 samples will be collected) and
logged in accordance with standard procedures.
3 . A minimum of twenty (20) soil samples will be analyzed from the SVE and IAS borings.
Each sample should be analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons (quantified as gasoline and
diesel : TPH-g and TPH-d) and volatile aromatics (BTE&X) by a State-certified laboratory
in accordance with EPA methods 8015/5030 and 8020.
4. Additionally, twelve ( 12) soil samples will be analyzed by a State-certified laboratory in
accordance with EPA method 8260 for oxygenates that include tertiary butanol (TBA), di-
isopropyl ether (DIPE), ethyl tert butyl ether (ETBE) and tert amyl methyl ether (TAME),
and methyl tert butyl ether (MTBE) .
5 . Soil generated during drilling should be placed on-site for aeration. Cost should include all
necessary permitting and two (2) composite soil samples for TPH-g/BTE&X.
TASK 3 - SYSTEM INSTALLATION
Testing at the site has indicated that a thermal oxidations SVE system will be required for effective
remediation of hydrocarbon-impacted soil . The unit chosen for the site shall have a flow-rate
capacity of at least 225 cubic feet per minute (cfm). The IAS compressor should be capable of
providing 10 to 15 cfm. All SVE wells and IAS points should be manifolded to the remediation
unit(s) via subsurface piping. Following any excavation activities, all disturbed areas need to be
restored to its original condition to allow for adequate site drainage and ongoing surface usages (i .e.
heavy equipment, forklifts).
All work at the site should be performed so as to cause a minimum of interference with existing on-
site operations. The location of the remediation unit(s) is illustrated on Figures 3 . The following
items shall be included in Task 3 :
1 . Installation of the SVE and IAS networks.
a. SVE network will include two (2) existing SVE wells and five (5 ) proposed SVE
wells to be installed.
b. IAS network will include seven (7) proposed injection points.
2. Construction of fenced enclosure.
3 . Construction and installation of all necessary supplemental fuel and/or power sources.
Natural gas is located at the north end of the property, approximately 300 feet from the
