N
E
03 July 1997
AGE-NC Project No . 95 -0121
SOIL VAPOR EXTRA CTIONi1N--SITU AIR SPARGING
• Based upon the above referenced volume of the core area and present ground water elevation
at the site, we anticipate installation of five SVE wells and seven IAS points will be necessary
for successful remediation. The approximate costs for installation of the SVE wells and IAS
points will be $ 15,000 .
• A thermal oxidizer-based SVE system and compressor-based IAS are recommended for the
site. The approximate cost for design and installation of an SVE/IAS system will be $20 ,000
to 530 ,000 .
• Based upon the an evaluation of site conditions, the estimated duration for operation of an
SVE/IAS system at the site is 18 to 24 months; an 80 and 90 percent reduction of
hydrocarbons should be feasible at the site. The estimated cost for operation, maintenance and
monitoring (including unit rental) will be between 554,000 and $84 ,000 .
• Periodic costs for operation of the SVE/IAS system, such as non-routine maintenance and
supplemental fuel , is estimated between 515,000 and $30 ,000 .
• Costs for laboratory analysis, permitting, regulatory liaison and report preparation is
estimated between $ 10,000 and $25, 000 .
The following is a summary of costs for installation and operation of an SVE/IAS system for
remediation of the core area of hydrocarbon impaction at the Nomellini site:
TASK COST
Installation of SVE wells and IAS points $ 15 ,000
Design and installation of SVE/IAS system 1 - $ 20,000 to $30. 000
Monitoring andinaintenance $54,000 to $84,000
Non-routineniaintenance and supplemental fuel $ 1500 to $30.000
Regulatory liaison ; laboratory analysis, report preparation $ 10,000-$252000
TOTAL: S114,000 to 134,000
Based upon the estimated cost presented herein, excavation of the core area of hydrocarbon-impacted
soil at the site does not appear to be cost-effective. Therefore, we recommend installation of an
SVE/IAS system at the site.
- - - - Advanced GuEnvicon ucatal, Inc.
