y
KLEINFELDER
5 RECOMMENDATIONS
The lateral extent of shallow soil contamination appear to be Iirrlted within approximately
20 feet of the excavation, but it appears that there may be lateral migration of petroleum
hydrocarbon.-at o7 near the ground water surface. Kleinfelder recommends that Nomellini
Construction proceed with an assessment of the ground water in the vicinity of the,
backfilled excavation. A minimum of three ground water monitoring vrelis should be
installed to collect water samples for analysis and estimate the Jccai direction of ground
water flow. Based or,the results of the preliminary wells, the necessity for additional wells
or ground water remediation can be assessed. r
Soil 2 to 3 feet above the ground water surface appears to be contaminated in the vicinity
Of the excavations. The impact of this soil on the ground water and the need to remediate
this soil can be further evaluated as the results of the preliminary ground water assessment
ha-re been completed.
The soil cutting stockpiled onsite should be considered contaminated based on the results
of this investigation. The cutting can be T,.-mediated by one of the following actions:
a Transport and dispose.of the soil at ar appropriate disposal facility.
o Retain the soil onsite for potential future onsite treatment.
A copy of this report shenid be submitted to the SJLHD for their review and consideration.
F
188.89-960 g
3
