The well development procedure for each well was as follows:
1. Each well was developed with a Teflon bailer. Surging along the screened
interval of the well was performed to draw the sediment from the formation into
and out of the well and to set the filter pack.
2. The sediment laden water was purged from the well until the discharge ran
relatively clear of fines. Approximately 15 to 20 well volumes were removed
from each well.
3. To reduce the 'potential for gross-contamination between wells, the developing
equipment was steam cleaned and rinsed in distilled water prior to use in each
V _ well.
— After the wells were developed, the aquifer was allowed to equilibrate for approximately 48
hours. On February 21, 1991, and again on June 26, 1991, the wells were purged and
sampled. Prior to purging, the depth to water was measured in wells MW-1, MW-2, and
MW-3 using 2.conductivity based water level indicator.
1. Down-well equipment (water level indicator and bailers) were decontaminated
i k
by washing in a trisodium phosphate solution or were steam cleaned followed by
a distilled water rinse prior to use in each well. New bailer cord was used for
each well.
rw
r 2. The depth-to-water was measured using a conductivity based water level
indicator
3. The volume of water standing in the well was calculated by subtracting the
depth-to-water measurement from the depth of the well and multiplying by the
appropriate conversion factor(3.14*radius2, 0.16 for 2-inch wells).
F18-91-62
Copyright 1991 Ceinfelder, Inc.
