Charter Way to the east, and cleanup is not warranted at this time. TEPH has also been
detected once in MW-1 & twice in MW-3. MW-1 is in the area of the abandoned
septic system, and MW-3 is immediately east of the shop building, and may be impacted
from the removed diesel tanks and product lines.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
We have previously requested semi-annual sampling at this site, but never received a reply
from your office. That schedule was used in 1998, and will continue until further notice.
As a result of the work done to date, it is apparent that there are two separate offsite
sources of gasoline contamination which extend beneath 1145 W. Charter Way. Our client
has removed the diesel UST's on the site, excavated and disposed of several hundred yards
of contaminated soil, installed eight monitoring wells, performed an extensive area search
for other sources of contamination, and complied with all rules and regulations. The
owners should not be required to clean up contamination caused by others.
We stated in our last report that a meeting should be arranged by your office with the
owners of the three sites and/or their representatives to determine responsibilities and
coordinate activities for cleanup. Mr. Miles' attorney, John Welch, will be contacting your
office in the near future to discuss arrangements.
J.
Iter&Associates
ne 2 , 1998
W. Miles
R.
