gasoline compounds found at the west edge of the Independent Trucking site. Details of
that placement are covered in the WJH report titled "Interim Report Covering Soil &
Groundwater Investigation and Second Quarter 1996 Monitoring event 1145 W. Charter
Way, Stockton, CA" dated October, 1996. As summarized on TABLE C, extremely high
levels of BTEX& TPHg were encountered during that work. We believe the source of the
gasoline compounds detected on the Miles property comes from this site. We do not know
the status of work performed, but we have removed the well from our monitoring schedule
since that task is the responsibility of the owners of that property.
DISCUSSION OF RESULTS OF WORK DONE TO DATE:
Prior reports have documented the extent of the groundwater plume which extends onto the
Independent Trucking site from east. This plume is a result of a major soil & groundwater
problem which is present in the southwest comer of the adjacent Nomellini Construction
property. The San Joaquin County EHD is the lead agency for that project. We have been
provided copies of some of the reports prepared for the County, but have not made a recent
file review of the status of cleanup operations there. Based upon work done to date, that
plume extends to the west at least as far as the maintainance shop, and possibly farther.
As we reported in earlier work, NW-9, which was placed on the JM Equipment property to
the west, encountered extremely high levels of gasoline compounds. We assume that a
UST once occupied that area. We have demonstrated that the gasoline contamination
found between the west edge of the site and the maintainance building (Independent
Trucking facility,) originated from the JM Equipment property.
CONCLUSIONS:
1. A large groundwater plume extends from the southeast side of the property to at least
as far as the maintainance building. The source of that plume is on the Nomellini
Construction site immediately to the east at 1045 W. Charter Way.
2. A second plume (groundwater& possibly soil,) has migrated onto the southwest side of
the Miles property from the JM Equipment site at 1245 W. Charter Way. It may extend
beneath, and be commingled with the Nomellini plume.
3. Excluding MW-5 (Nomellini,) & MW-9 (JM equipment,) which are within impacted
areas, the levels of BTEX and TPHg in the remaining wells are quite low. TPH as
gasoline has been recorded in NW-1, MW-2, MW-3, MW-4, & MW-8. These wells
have been impacted by Nomellini& JM Equipment plumes,
4. Diesel range organics present in the groundwater beneath MW-4, appear to be caused
by leakage from diesel UST's which have been removed. Refer to prior reports for
details of that work. That area is within the groundwater plume originating at 1045 W.
3
