2 . If the results of the above operation are successful in
locating potential sources of contamination, appropriate
workplans & permits will be obtained, and they will be removed
and appropriate samples taken and analyzed.
3 . Depending upon the results of item 2 , soil borings will be
placed in areas identified as potential problems . That work may
be done utilizing a conventional auger rig, or punch-type,
("geoprobe" ) equipment . Either method will allow sampling and
evaluation of soil & water samples . If the results of the work
reveals that additional groundwater monitoring wells will be
required, appropriate workplans will be prepared and submitted.
The locations of such borings/wells cannot be determined until
the surface investigation has been completed. A workplan
addendum will be submitted prior to beginning this phase of the
operation.
4 . If the results of steps 1 and/or 2 indicate a possible
offiste source, we will attempt to identify such source (s) and
inform the property owners and appropriate government agencys so
that additional investigative work can be conducted.
it is anticipated that the surface investigative work can be
completed by November 15, assuming that the necessary permits can
be obtained and depending upon equipment availability.
We cannot provide a time schedule for proceeding with the next
phase at this time . We will have to review and analyze the
results of the surface investigation, solicit bids from qualified
vendors, obtain needed permits, prepare a workplan addendum, and
obtain pre-approval from the State Cleanup Fund staff prior to
scheduling the work. We will keep your office informed of our
progress; please feel free to contact us if you have any
questions concerning our approach to the problem.
Wm. J.
