Hunter&Associates for the property at 1145 West Charter Way in Stockton. Four ground water monitoring wells
and four other borings were drilled onsite to help define the extent of ground water and soil contamination. The
ground water contained gasoline at concentrations up to 13,360 parts per billion(ppb),benzene up to 1,460 ppb,and
diesel up to 270 ppb. Soil samples taken from all of the borings down to 36 feet below the ground surface(bgs)
showed no significant concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbon constituents except for 8µg/kg of benzene at 26.5
feet bgs in boring"A" and 52 mg/kg of diesel at 6.6 feet bgs in boring"C".
Based upon the results of the investigation,it is clear that further work needs to be conducted at the site. I agree with
the recommendations of Wm. J. Hunter&Associates that the new monitoring wells should be sampled on a quarterly
basis, including the well placed in the southeast comer of the property by Nomellini Construction Company.
Additional monitoring wells need to be installed in the area of boring"A"to help define the extent of contamination in
the ground water. Using hydropunch sampling would be appropriate to help cite the wells. A detailed study into
other potential sources of contamination such as unidentified underground storage tanks and off-site sources also
should be completed.
By 13 October 1995,please submit a work plan to accomplish the above tasks. The work plan shall include a
detailed schedule with particular calendar dates to conduct the work and submit an investigative report. The next
round of ground water sampling from all of the wells should occur in October or November with a fourth quarter
monitoring report submitted by 31 December 1995. We will prepare a monitoring and reporting program for the site
and send you a draft for your review before issuing it.
If you have any-questions,you may call me at(916)255-3077.
'V VV
JOV M.WEISS
Engineering Geologist
JMW:jmw/mS
cc: Ms. Linda Turkette,San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Stockton
Mr. William Miles,Los Altos
Ms. Patricia Nolet,Monterey
Mr. Greg Basso,Independent Trucking, Stockton
