the three diesel tanks, and take additional samples as required <br />A copy of that workplan has been furnished with prior reports <br />December 9, 1994 - The CRWQCB responded to the 11/7/1994 WJH <br />workplan, stating that the proposed work was not sufficient, and <br />required that a more thorough investigation be conducted A copy <br />of that letter is included as EXHIBIT B <br />December 13, 1994 - After receiving County approval of the <br />12/7/1994 workplan, the site which had contained the three (3) <br />UST's was overexcavated by JTO under the supervision of Wm J <br />Hunter, RG Four (4) soil samples were taken from the excavation <br />as directed by Linda Turkatte of the San Joaquin County EHD, <br />their locations are shown on PLATE IX There was evidence of <br />contamination in the west end of the north site below the depth <br />the excavator could reach Operations ceased pending laboratory <br />results <br />December 15, 1994 - Laboratory results revealed the presence of <br />ethylbenzene, xylene, & TPH as diesel in sample B-1 at 27' <br />Equipment was mobilized again, JTO ramped into the north <br />excavation from the east side and reached a depth of about 37' <br />when water began entering the hole Two (2) soil samples were <br />taken from the backhoe bucket for analysis The contaminated <br />spoil was transported to Forward, Inc for disposal, and the <br />excavations were filled with clean material PLATE IX shows the <br />locations of the samples, and TABLE VII summarizes the results of <br />the laboratory analyzes Complete details of the work are given <br />in the WJH report titled "INTERIM REPORT COVERING RESULTS OF <br />EXCAVATION WORK DONE 12/13 & 12/15, 1994 & ADDENDUM TO WJH <br />WORKPLAN DATED 11/7/1994 .°, dated February 7, 1995 <br />February 7, 1995 - WJH responded to the CRWQCB correspondence of <br />12/9/1994, and submitted a revised workplan for placing four (4) <br />groundwater monitoring wells & four (4) soil borings to meet the <br />requirements outlined in the CRWQCB letter The proposed <br />locations are shown on PLATE X A copy of that revised workplan <br />is included as EXHIBIT C <br />February 21, 1995 - Mr Joel Weiss of the CRWQCB approved the <br />revised workplan, refer to EXHIBIT D for a copy of that corres- <br />pondence. <br />May 10, 1995 - Application for Cleanup Fund reimbursement <br />documents submitted to Sacramento office <br />May 16, 1995 - Documents sent to Cleanup Fund staff for <br />Pre -approval of work to be performed <br />4 <br />
