septic tank also removed Excavation left open <br />August, 1993 - Five (5) auger borings placed in area of leach <br />field to depths ranging from 32' bg1 to 421 bgl; the presence of <br />petroleum hydrocarbon substances was detected in soil & ground- <br />water Three (3) hand -auger borings were placed in and adjacent <br />to the site of the removed leach field. Locations of that work <br />are shown on PLATE VI, more complete details are given in prior <br />reports Refer to TABLE I for a summary of laboratory analyzes <br />of the work done <br />November, 1993 - Two hand -auger samples were taken 51 & 10' west <br />of the second chamber of the concrete septic tank, (which is <br />still in place,) to depths of about 121 bgl. The samples were <br />analyzed for kerosene, diesel, & motor oil, the east sample was <br />below detection limits, but the west sample measured 20 mg/kg of <br />TEPH The excavation was filled with clean material, we do not <br />have details of that work. <br />September 30, 1994 - A 1,000 gallon waste oil tank was removed <br />from a site adjacent to the wash rack by Jim Thorpe Oil, Inc , <br />it's location is shown on PLATE VII Soil samples were taken <br />from the excavation & the spoil pile, and analyzed for BTEX, <br />TPHG, TEPH, EPA 8010, EPA 8270, & CAM-TTLC 10 metals The <br />results of those analyzes are summarized on TABLES II, III, IV, & <br />V The excavation was filled with clean material, and the spoil <br />pile moved to a site adjacent to the diesel tanks Laboratory <br />worksheets were included with the November workplan <br />October 4, 1994 - Jim Thorpe Oil, Inc removed a 10,000 gallon, a <br />5,000 gallon, and a 3,000 gallon UST which had contained diesel <br />fuel, refer to PLATE VIII for their locations Soil samples were <br />taken from beneath the tanks & the fill line connecting the two <br />sets, as well as along the product line leading to the northeast <br />end of the shop building. Details of that work has been <br />discussed in detail in prior reports Results of laboratory <br />analyzes are summarized on TABLE VI <br />November 7, 1994 - Wm. J Hunter & Associates, (WJH,) submitted a <br />workplan to the CRWQCB for placing three (3) soil borings, (& <br />converting one to a groundwater monitoring well,) for the purpose <br />of attempting to determine the source and extent of hydrocarbon <br />contaminants found in the groundwater in the vicinity of the <br />leach field A copy of that workplan, (w/o exhibits,) is <br />included as EXHIBIT A <br />December 7, 1994 - Jim Thorpe Oil, Inc submitted a workplan to <br />the San Joaquin County EHD proposing to overexcavate the site of <br />3 <br />
