SCOPE OF WORK
GENERAL
The investigation will generally include the drilling of three borings around each of the two former
tank locations (six total borings). The purpose of the borings will be to assess the horizontal and
vertical impact of the former tank use on both soils and groundwater. A maximum drilling depth
of 30 feet is planned, as County groundwater maps indicate regional depths between 10 and 30 feet.
Following the field work and chemical testing of the samples,a summary report will be prepared in
general conformance with Appendix A of the State's Tri-Regional Board Staff Recommendations
for underground tank site investigations. A list of specific tasks is presented below.
SPECIFIC TASKS
• Develop a site specific Health and Safety Plan
• Conduct and underground utility survey.
• Obtain SJCEMD Well permits.
• Perform site investigation under the direct supervision
Of a California Registered Geologist or Civil Engineer.
• Drill six borings into first groundwater(anticipated less than 30 feet)
• Collect soil samples at 5-foot depth intervals
• Screen soils for petroleum vapors an select one sample
from each boring for chemical testing i est
screening indication, or if no indication, submit t 20 fo
or capillary fringeample for testing(six total soil samples).
• Advance Hydropunch equipment into the upper 3 feet of
first encountered groundwater where encountered and sample,
or lower a bailer through the hollow stem augers to collect
groundwater.
• Survey the ground surface at each boring location relative
to an on-site benchmark, measure groundwater depths, and
tremie grout borings with a cement slurry and 3-5%bentonite
gel (powder).
• Submit the 3 soil and up to 3 water samples from the waste-
Ramco n ll:\WPDATA\1070ANDS\InvestigationWP Page 2
