Mr. Kenneth Earnest
Ultramar Inc.
November 29, 1994
l Page 2
On November 3, 1994, the excavation at sample location PL-2 was deepened and soil sample PL-2B
was collected at a depth of 12 feet below grade. The excavation was further deepened and sample
PL-2C was collected at a depth of 14 feet.
Soil Sample Analytical Results
Each of the soil samples were submitted to West Laboratory in Davis, California for overnight
laboratory analysis of benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, total xylenes (BTEX), and total petroleum
hydrocarbons (TPH) as gasoline. All soil samples except soil samples PL-2B and PL-2C were also
analyzed for total lead. Analytical results are summarized in Table 1 and copies of the analytical
laboratory reports are presented in Enclosure A.
The analytical results indicate that soil samples collected from the maximum depth at each sampling
location did not contain detectable concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbons, except sample PL-5A,
which contained xylenes at a concentration of 0.0066 milligrams per kilogram (mg/kg}. Total lead
was not detected in any of the product line soil samples, however was reported at a concentration of
13 mg/kg from one composite soil sample.
Soil Stockpile Sampling
! Approximately 100 cubic yards of soil were excavated and stockpiled on-site. Composite samples
from the soil stockpiles were submitted for laboratory analysis of BTEX, TPH as gasoline, and Iead.
Analytical results are included in Table 1, and copies of the analytical laboratory reports are included
in Enclosure A. Following receipt of the laboratory analysis of the stockpile soil, the excavated soil
was transported by Ben's Trucking to their facility in Red Bluff, California. for recycling.
Remarks/Signatures
The information contained in this report is based in part on information supplied by the client.
