Both documents
were submitted in response to our 27 July 2004 Order under Section 13267 of the California Water Code
requesting technical reports. The Workplan proposes installation of four groundwater monitoring wells to
delineate lateral plume extent and three Cone Penetrometer Test(CPT)borings for vertical plume extent
(enclosed Figure 2). The Report documents the decommissioning of the onsite water supply well.
The proposed work is appropriate and adequate for the groundwater investigation' The Workplan is approved,
provided you obtain the applicable San Joaquin County permits. By 15 July 2005,please provide a report of the
groundwater investigation with recommendations, including additional monitoring wells if contamination is
found in the deeper aquifer.
Also continue submitting reports and data electronically to GeoTracker, and paper copies to the
Regional Board. Quarterly reports should be submitted no later than the first day of the second month following
the quarter. All future reports and workplans are to follow the Appendix A—Reports, Tri-Regional Board Staff
Recommendations for Preliminary Investigation and Evaluation of Underground Tank Sites (Tri-Regional). You
may use Internet website link in the header of our letter to search on Available Documents for the Tri-Regional.
The Tri-Regional recommends that quarterly reports include isoconcentration maps of each contaminant for the
lateral extent of contamination, and geologic cross sections showing the vertical extent of contamination.
Please provide at least three working days prior notice to San Joaquin County and myself for fieldwork. If you
ve any questions,you
may call me at(916)464-4615.
ames L.L.Barton,P.G.
Engineering Geologist
cc: Mr.Mark Owens,UST Cleanup Fund, SWRCB, Sacramento
Mr.Michael hArna, San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department, Stockton
Mr. Todd Hafner,ATC Associates, Inc., Modesto
California Environmental Protection Agency
0 Recycled Paper
