Mr.James Fisk 2 - ` 13 May 2003
J&L Market, 8125 El Dorado Street,French Camp
I discussed your request for a three-way split of samples with Mark Owens of the CUF. He assured me that the
CUF would not pay for three labs to run the same samples. While you may use three labs during the Second
Quarter 2004 if you pay the costs associated with the extra lab analyses(more than one lab)and extra time spent
for sampling,I plan to take split groundwater samples to the Regional Board's contract lab, CLS, a California-
certified lab. I will share the analytical results with you and with UEC. I will also audit DEC's procedures for
collecting the samples and issue an inspection report. McCampbell and Exochem are both California-certified
labs, so there should not be significant difference in the analytical results of split samples from each lab.
Also, on three occasions, 5 August 2003, 10 October 2003,and 31 December 2003,1 sent letters directing you to
submit Electronic Data Format(EDF). As of this date, only the EDF from the Third Quarter 1001 Report has
been submitted and received into GeoTracker. Please work with your labs to submit all missing quarterly
monitoring and investigation soil and/or groundwater data. Also include the EDF data for the Site Map
(GEO_MAP),X-Y coordinates for all well locations (GEO_XY), and all water levels (GEO_WELL). If you feel
this request may be in error and have submitted the required data, please provide the GeoTracker confirmation
numbers to help locate the data. Failure to submit complete reports, including EDF data, may result in a loss of
CUF eligibility.
Please secure all appropriate drilling permits from San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department
(SJCEHD), and provide Mike Infurna, SJCEHD(209)468-3454 and myself with a minimum of three working
days notice prior to commencing any fieldwork, including well installation and/or quarterly groundwater
sampling. If you have questions or comments, please call me at 916-464-4615 or e-mail me at
bartonj@rb5s.swrcb.ca.gov.
ames L.L.Barton,R
Engineering Geologist
cc: Mr.Mark Owens,UST Cleanup Fund, SWRCB, Sacramento
Mr.Michael Infuma, San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department, Stockton
Dr.Victor Cherven,Upgradient Environmental Consultants, Stockton
