The area across Weber Avenue, north of the site, previously was occupied by freight <br /> sheds and transportation loading terminals. An open Stockton Channel extended to El Dorado <br /> Street. By the early 1950's, the Stockton Channel was covered by an aboveground parking lot. <br /> Also, a Shell gasoline service station existed north of the Stockton Channel. The service station <br /> was later operated by Bridgestone Tire automobile repair facility. Northeast of the site at 130 <br /> El Dorado there was a Goodyear Tire and Auto Repair facility and boat and motor freight <br /> terminal. Northwest of the site, across the Stockton Channel, there was an ARCO gasoline <br /> service station.
