5G. TRANSPORTATION INCIDENT - INVOLVING NON -COMPANY VEHICLE <br />1. If the non -Company vehicle is carrying hazardous substances either to or <br />from a PG&E facility and a spill occurs, a PG&E employee is to monitor <br />the incident and remain on the scene to provide information on the <br />material(s) involved to emergency response teams. <br />2. Take care of any injured. Call an ambulance or paramedics. <br />3. IF IT CAN BE DONE SAFELY, attempt to isolate the spill from human or other <br />vehicular traffic. Suggested methods: <br />a. Cones <br />lvvls�i M <br />c. Post a sign <br />4. DO NOT ENTER AREA OF SPILL UNLESS FULLY PROTECTED WITH THE PROPER <br />PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT. <br />5. Begin to fill out Scene -Management Checklist (Section 8). <br />6. Call your Facility Emergency Coordinator (or alternate) and provide <br />him/her with information gathered in Scene -Management Checklist. <br />7. Call the shift supervisor. <br />s. If spill occurs on a public road or highway, make sure that the vehicle <br />operator notifies: <br />California Highway Patrol (CHP), Sacramento <br />24-hour telephone number: Zenith 1-2000 <br />(Place call through operator.) <br />NOTE TIME CALL IS MADE. <br />If vehicle operator is injured and is unable to make this notification, <br />the PG&E employee on the scene places the call to the CHP. <br />9. Notify the vehicle's company headquarters of incident.' <br />10. Try to identify the type, source, and estimated quantity of material <br />spilled and provide information to emergency response teams. <br />11. Stay on the scene until the spill has been controlled and/or cleaned up <br />and provide information as needed to assist emergency response teams. <br />12. Complete Scene -Management Checklist (Section 8). Note particularly the <br />vehicle's company name, driver's name, and cause of incident. <br />5-23 <br />
