ZZ
November 2 , 1988 Western Regional Office
Job No. 1088-M-5 310 Main Street, Suite F
Pleasanton, California 94566
(415) 462-7772
San Joaquin County Air Pollution Control District
1601 East Hazelton Avenue
P.O. Box 2009
Stockton, California 95201
Attention: Mr. Likhmir Grewal
Subject: Implementation of Vadose Zone Remediation Plan
Kayo/Fast Gas Station
800 East Highway 12
Lodi, California
Dear Mr. Grewal:
The purpose of this letter is to present for your review and
approval an interim plan for vapor extraction of volatile
hydrocarbons in the soil at the Kayo/Fast Gas Station located
at 800 East Highway 12 , Lodi, California. A site location
plan showing buildings and well locations is provided in
Figure 1.
Leaks in the station's underground storage tanks were detected
in July, 1985. Kayo Oil conducted an environmental
investigation which led to the implementation of a ground
water recovery and treatment system via an air stripping
tower. This system is currently in operation to contain the
hydrocarbon plume and to reduce the dissolved contamination.
Ground water levels in the vicinity of the site are dropping
in elevation leaving a number of our on-site ground water
monitoring wells dry. We would like permission to implement
an interim remediation program utilizing soil vapor
extraction, to address the contamination in the vadose zone
concurrently with the ground water recovery and treatment
system. It is our intention to operate both the ground water
and soil vapor systems provided environmental conditions are
conducive, until bioremediation, as approved in the final
remediation plan for this site, can be implemented.
368 TurnerWay .
