Kettleman Lane PUBLIC !.,\t_11" JiGES
Lodi, CA 95242 ENVIRONMENTAL HE,"A-1 I1 DIVISION
Dear Mr. Trevena:
As we discussed earlier, I recently became aware of the fact that the
existing double walled, fiberglass, Owens Corning tanks have what I consider
to be inadequate sumps. They do not allow for inspection and subsequent
monitoring of the space between the top of the tank, inclusive of the bolted
down manhole, and the bottom of the sump. We propose to remove the tank slab
and pea gravel from the top of the tanks and to install the new sump
"collars" directly on the tanks, typical of the current installation
requirements. Owens Corning requires that their own field people install the
new collars in order to maintain the warranty. I have enclosed literature
and a sketch addressing the new sump installation for your review. Owens
Corning has been scheduled to install the new collars during the week of
November 14.
The installation of the new sumps also offers us the ability to update the
"tank trim" to today's standards and we propose to install the following (cut
sheets enclosed):
6 ea. Teleflex 2"x18" flex connectors
11 ea. Western fiberglass pipe penetration boot
12 ea. Western fiberglass conduit penetration boot
3 ea.
