3) Assuring that field personnel have a minimum of 40 hours of health and safety <br /> training and have been fit-tested for the appropriate respirators; <br /> 4) Advising personnel of the potential hazards associated with site operations; <br /> 5) Monitoring the safety performance of personnel so that the required work <br /> practices are employed; <br /> 6) Correcting work practices or conditions that may result in injury or exposure to <br /> hazardous substances; <br /> 7) Preparing accident/incident reports; <br /> 8) Halting site operations, if necessary, to correct unsafe work practices. <br /> 4.2 Site Safety Officer (BSK&Associates) <br /> The Site Safety Officer's (SSO) duties may be carried out by the PM or other site manager. The <br /> SSO shall be responsible for: <br /> 1) Implementation of project health and safety plans, and'report deviations from the <br /> anticipated conditions described in the plans to the PM, and, if necessary, the <br /> Regional Health and Safety Manager(RHSM); <br /> 2) Assessing calibration of monitoring equipment on a regular basis and properly <br /> recording and filing the xesults; <br /> 3) Checking for proper monitoring equipment operation and providing for <br /> maintenance if it is not; <br /> 4) Assuming other duties as directed by the PM or RHSM; <br /> 5) Identifying site personnel with special medical problems; <br /> 6) Conducting periodic safety meetings; <br /> 7) Monitoring the use of personal protective equipment; <br /> 8) Adherence to decontamination procedures by site personnel; <br /> 9) Monitoring exposure to hazardous substances. <br /> 4.3 Regional Health and Safety Manager (BSK& Associates) <br /> The Regional Health and Safety Manager(RHSM) shall: <br /> 1) Periodically audit the operation for compliance with this plan; <br /> 2) Provide health and safety support as requested by the SSO.and PM; <br /> 4.4 Project Personnel(BSK&. Associates) <br /> Project personnel involved in on-site investigations and operations are responsible for: <br /> 1) Taking reasonable precautions to prevent injury to themselves and to their fellow <br /> employees; <br /> 2) Performing only those tasks that they believe they can do safely; <br /> 3) Immediately reporting accidents and/or unsafe conditions to the SSO or PM; <br /> 4) Implementing the procedures set forth in the health and safety plan, and reporting <br /> deviations from the procedures described in the plan to the SSO or PM for action; <br /> A-3 <br />
