monitoring well locations are illustrated on Figure 2.
4) Obtain soil samples at five-foot intervals using a split-tube sampler loaded with three
pre-cleaned brass sleeves.
5) Preserve soil in the lead brass sleeve by covering both ends with aluminum foil,
capping, and sealing with tape.
6) Label and log soil samples on a chain-of-custody form.
7) Store the samples under ice and transport the samples in a chilled container to a
State certified laboratory for analysis.
9) Log auger returns in accordance with the Unified Sol] Classification System.
10) Screen auger returns and soil sample duplicates for the presence of volatile organics
using a photo-ionization detector (PID) pre-calibrated to isobutylene.
11) Place auger returns on plastic sheeting and store on-site pending analytical results.
12) Analyze selected soil samples for total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH as Stoddard
Solvent) and volatile aromatics (BTE&X), in accordance with EPA methods
GCFID/5030 and 602, respectively.
13) Decontaminate sampling equipment in an alconox solution and rinse twice with water
prior to each sampling run.
14) Steam-clean auger flights after drilling each soil boring or monitoring well.
15) Backfill borings using a concrete-bentonite slurry in the entire depth of the boring.
Complete all monitoring wells in accordance with the well design illustrated in Figure
3,
16) Survey and develop each new monitoring well. Each new well will be surveyed
relative to existing monitoring wells.
17) No sooner than 48 hours after installation, measure to the nearest 0.01 foot, the
static water level in the new wells.
18) Using a bailer or submersible pump, surge and purge all wells. Each well will be
purged of standing water to stabilize temperature, pH and conductivity. Well
parameters will be measured at ane-gallon intervals. A minimum of three well
volumes of water will be removed from each well.
Geebg 1 Audit S—i—,Inc. 6
SG94.0.973.3KIIa.-Du6nu WPIJ12.94
