Treadwell&Rolb
MEMORANDUM
TO: Lorre Islas-City of Stockton
mak.✓(.1 s r.
FROM: . Dustyne SutherlandT/ David Dixon
DATE: 24 September, 2004
PROJECT: Stockton Housing and Redevelopment
Stockton, California
2597.10
SUBJECT:. Carando Additional Soil Sampling
This memorandum summarizes the results of the soil sampling conducted by Treadwell&Rollo,
Inc. at the Carando Machine Works Site, and the adjacent City of Stockton owned parking lot.
Treadwell &Rollo, Inc. collected soil samples from two sumps, two equipment pits, and four
test pits at these two locations.
Sampling was conducted in accordance with the 26 March 2004 Soil Management Plan (SMP)
for the Northshore redevelopment project which was prepared under the oversight of the
California Department of Toxic Substance Control(DTSC). The following summarizes the
sampling and analytical results for each of the sites.
City of Stockton Parking Lot
Soil and groundwater sampling conducted by Advanced GeoEnvironmental(AGE) in June 2003,
did not encounter contamination at this site, however, AGE did not sample soil shallower.than 10
feet deep. Consequently, Treadwell & Rollo collected soil samples in four shallow test pits at
this parcel
On 3 March 2004, four test pits were sampled (CPT:1 through CPT-4) at depths of 1 and 3 feet
below ground surface (Figure 1). The soil samples were analyzed for potential soil contaminants
described in the SMP. Additionally, because a site history review identified that the site was
previously occupied by an electrical company and motor repair shop, soil samples were also
analyzed for polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs). Soil sample analyses included:
• Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons (TPH) as Diesel (TPHd) and Motor Oil (TPHmo)by
EPA Method 8015M
• Lead and Arsenic by EPA Method 6010 and
• PCBs by EPA Method 8082
Treadwell&Rollo,Inc.Environmental&Geotechnical Consultants
555 Montgomery Street,Suite 1300,San Francisco,California 94111
Telephone(415)955-9040 Facsimile(415)955-9041
