Tr6adweIERWO
5.2.4 Area 20 and 21 RAP Excavations
Area 20 contained five RAP excavations and.Area 21 contained one RAP excavation at the
locations shown on Figure 6. Table 1 identifies the COCs associated with each RAP excavation.
Three of the six RAP excavations in Area 21 (20B4,'20TP1.and 20TP5)had confirmation
samples that did not meet the RAOs after-the RDIP proposed excavation was completed, and
additional excavation and confirmation sampling was conducted until the RAOs were met.
Figure 13 shows the final RAP excavation dimensions and confirmation sampling locations for
Areas 20 and 21. Confirmation sampling locations shown in gray on the figure indicate that
these locations were removed during subsequent excavation. Tables 6 and 7 present the
I confirmation sample analytical results for Areas 20 and 21 respectively. The combined
estimated soil volume for RAP excavations in Areas 20 and 21 presented in the RDIP was 42 cy,
and the volume estimated based on excavation dimensions after completion was 105 cy
(Table 10).
f
'l 5.3. Backfill and Compaction
After the laboratory analytical results for the confirmation samples indicated that all RAOs were
j met, Evans Brothers backfilled the RAP excavations up to the previous grade with soil from
i
other parts of the Site that was excavated for development of the new baseball stadium and
indoor sports arena. Backfilling and compaction was performed under the supervision of
Swindon Inc., the project general contractor, and Kleinfelder Inc. the project geotechnical
engineer.
5.4 Non RAP Related Remedial Activities
Remedial activities conducted under the oversight of the SJCEHD.have been conducted at
two locations at the Site since the RDIP was completed. Soil and groundwater remediation
associated with petroleum hydrocarbon releases from former USTs was conducted at
If
Areas 15 and 16.
25971025.DGD 16 11 August 2005
