' 09 October 2001 <br /> ' <br /> AGE-NC Project N - <br /> l 0 95 0144 <br /> Page 3 of 5 <br /> ' 2 3 EXTRACTED WATER SAMPLING PROCEDURES <br /> Approximately 2,500 gallons of purged water were generated during the pumping test During the <br /> ' pumping test,two grab ground water samples were collected prior to discharge into the 6,500 gallon <br /> Baker tank Sample 1 (collected at 12 00 PM, 210 minutes of pumping operation) and Sample 2 <br /> (collected at 3 45 PM,435 minutes of pumping operation)were collected utilizing three 40-rail EPA- <br /> approved VOA vials containing 0 5 ml 18% hydrochloric acid as a sample preservative and a one- <br /> liter amber bottle without preservative <br /> ' Followmg sample collection, each preserved sample was logged on a chain-of custody form,placed <br /> in a chilled container and transported to a McCampbell Analytical, Inc (MAI), a California <br /> ' Department of Health Services (DHS)-certified laboratory for the following analyses <br /> • Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline and diesel (TPH-g and TPH-d, <br /> respectively) by EPA Method 5030/8015M, and <br /> • Volatile aromatic compounds mcluding benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and xylene (BTEX) <br /> and methyl-tertiary butyl ether(MTBE) by EPA Method 8020 , <br /> 24 EXTRACTED WATER ANALYTICAL RESULTS <br /> Grab ground water Sample 1 contained TPH-g at a concentration of 6,800 micrograms per liter <br /> (Ag/1) TPH-d was detected in the water sample at a concentration of 890 µg/l, however, the <br /> laboratory reported that the diesel chromatogram contamed significant gasoline range compounds <br /> Sample 2 contained TPH-g and TPH-d at concentrations of 6,600 µg11 and 890 gg/l, respectively <br /> ' As with Sample 1, the laboratory report indicated that gasoline range compounds were significant <br /> in the diesel analysis <br /> ' BTEX compounds were detected in Sample 1 and Sample 2 at concentrations as high as 880 p,g/l <br /> (toluene) and 900 gg/l (toluene), respectively, benzene was detected in Sample 1 and Sample 2 at <br /> concentrations of 10 µg/1 and 1 I µg/1, respectively <br /> Laboratory results are summarized on Table 3 The laboratory reports(McCampbell Analytical Inc <br /> Lab IDs 68589 and 68590) and chain-of-custody forms are presented in Appendix E <br /> 1 , <br /> ' Advanced GeoEnvironmentat,Inc / <br /> y' <br />
