The location of the facility is shown
on Figure i
Background
On October 9, 1998 Wallace Kuhl&Associates,Inc_(Wallace Kuhl)supervised the drilling and
sampling of two soil borings near the USTs at the site. The locations of the borings are shown
on Figure 2. Laboratory analysis of soil samples collected from depths of approximately 5.5
and 16 feet in boring Bl and from approximately 3 feet from boring B2 detected elevated
concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbons. The insults of this investigation were reported to San
Joaquin County Public Health Services/Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD)in a ,report
dated December 21, 1998. PHS/EHD filed an Unauthorized Release Report and placed the site
in the Local Oversight Program. Soil sample analytical results are summarized in Tablel,1.
On January 19, 1999 three USTs(two 4,000 gallon diesel and one 4,000 gallon gasoline)were
removed along with dispensers and product piping. Soil samples were collected from the UST
pit and from beneath the former dispenser island on February 3, 1999. The samples', were
analyzed by State-certified Kiff Analytical laboratory which detected elevated concentrations of
petroleum hydrocarbons.
