Job No 18025-004-044
i
Dear Dr. Todd:
Dames & Moore is pleased to submit this report on the results of chemical
analyses run on water samples collected at the above referenced facility. The
samples were drawn from six monitoring wells and wera analyzed for Total
Petroleum Hydrocarbons (TPH), selected volatile organic compounds, organic lead,
-, ethylene dibromide and fecal coliform.
The chemical analyses show well MW-1 to contain substantially lower
concentrations of TPH and volatile organic compounds when compared to analyses
run in December 1988. Well MW-2 had low levels of Total Petroleum Hydrocarbon
(gasoline and diesel), while results for wells MW-3, MW-4, MW-5 and MW-6 were
"non-detect" for the tested constituents.
lY
Groundwater levels were measured in each""well on two separate dates in
February 1990 (six days apart). Groundwater gradient contour maps were generated
<, for both dates and confirm that the local gradient trends towards the south-
southwest. The south-southwest gradient was originally documented in the January
1985 Site Investigation_ report and the November 1989 Phase II report.
Based upon this round of water sampling and the previous round, we conclude
that the groundwater contamination from the former underground storage tanks_
remains limited to an area immediately beneath the six-tank excavation pit in
which MW-1 is located. The lack of contamination in the down-gradient wells,
MW-5 and MW-6, supports this conclusion.
Low levels of TPH/gasoline and TPH/diesel hydrocarbons were detected in
the groundwater sampled from MW-2. TPH/gasoline levels were slightly elevated
over those levels detected during the initial sampling performed in 1988, though
previously detear.ed purgeable aromatic organic compounds 'BTXE's) were not
i
