X
2.0 c r
2.1 LITERATURE REVIEW
A site history and data sena..ih will be performed to research
geological and hydrogeological information pertaining to the site
and surrounding area, and to further define hydrological irfluences
on the site (i.e. San Joagrain River) .
N
2.2 FIELD INVESTIGATION
2.2.1 Jac ica roac
The Phase II S2.te Investigation of the Holt Brothers Tractor
Company facility will include she installation of approximately
five additional soil borings and three additional ground water
monitoring wells in the locations shown on Figure 2The proposed
soil boring location will ba near the excavated soivent UST. The
--.- purpose of these borings will be to verify and delineate the extent
of chlorinated hydrocarbon constituents in the soil.
One proposed monitoring well will be located south of the
delineated plume, and will help further establish ground water
gradients. In addition, should the ground water gradient change
in the area date to water level fluctuations in the San Jaaquin
River to the southwest and the Stockton Shipping Channel to the
northeast, this well will act as an upgradient cr background
monitoring well.
Another proposed monitoring well location is directly within
the known portion of the plume, approximately 50 feet south of
monitoring well MW-1. This well. will further verify the presence
and concentration of hydrocarbon constituents within or atop the
water table. In addition, this well will Le constzucted for use as
a hydrocarbon/water extraction well during remediation.
The third proposed monitoring well location is along the
undefined western border of the hydrocarbon plume. This well will
be used to verify the location and concentration, if any, of the
hydrocarbon plume in ground water.
The exact location of these additional .soil borings and ground
water monitoring welis may be altered due to the presence of
underground or above ground utilities oz traffic patterns within
the facility. The depths of these borings and monitoring wells,
based on the information reported for the drilling of monitoring
wells MW-1 through MW-4, will be approximately 35 feet with the end
of the soil horings -terminating above the water table. The scope
f.
of work for this investigation includes:
LD01.064
3
