IRMA a << y <br /> N <br /> vwf <br /> 4.0 , CONTROL <br /> 4.1 QUALITY ASSURANCE OBJECTIVES <br /> The objective of the quality assurance and quality control <br /> (QA/QC) is to ensure precision, accuracy, and representativeness <br /> - of environmental data. For this site investigation, the following <br /> field and laboratory quality control procedures will be <br /> implemented. <br /> 4.2 CALIBRATION OF FIELD EQUIPMENT <br /> The pH meter and electrical conductivity meter will be span- <br /> checked with commercially available standards near the ranges of <br /> interest (pH: 4 to lo, electrical conductivity: 0 to 10,000 <br /> umbos/cm) on a daily basis. <br /> The results of calibration and retards of repairs will be <br /> recorded in the field memos. If an individual suspects an <br /> equipment malL.Enncte ori, the device will be removed from service, <br /> tagged so that At is not inadvertently used, and the appropriate <br /> personnel notified so that a recalibration can be performed or a <br /> substitute piece of equipment can be obtained. <br /> Equipment that fails calibration or becomes inoperable during <br /> use will be removed from service and either segregated to prevent <br /> inadvertent use, or tagged to indicate it is out of calibration. <br /> Such equipment will be repaired and satisfactorily recalibrated. <br /> a- Equipment that cannot be rp=aired will be replaced. <br /> Results of activities performed using equipment that has <br /> failed recalibration will be evaluated. If the activity results <br /> are adversely affected, the results of the evaluation will be <br /> documented and the appropriate personnel notified. <br /> 4.3 FIELD QUALITY CONTROL SAMPLES <br /> To assevs the quality of data from field sampling efforts, <br /> field quality control samples will be collected. Field QC samples <br /> and duplicates will be submitted to the analytical laboratory for <br /> water samples. There are ;-hree types of field QC samples: trip <br /> blanks, field blanks, and equipment blanks. Each are .'.escribed <br /> below. Replicate samples will be submitted for both water and soil <br /> samples.
