05 October 2004
AGE-NC Project No.04-1215
Geology, 1977).Rocks composing the basement complex of the Province have not been completely
defined but are believed to be metamorphic and igneous in origin.
The Modesto, Riverbank and Turlock Lake Formations and overlying Recent alluvium are the
principal sources of domestic ground water in the 13,500-square mile San Joaquin Valley Ground
Water Basin(Basin 5-22).The Mormon Slough extends along the northern boundary of the property.
The estimated depth to ground water at the site is approximately 50 feet below surface grade(bsg)
based on information from quarterly monitoring events performed by AGE at other sites in the area,
the ground water flow in the area is generally towards the east/southeast. However, this may be
greatly modified by local recharge and discharge patterns.
2.2. UNDERGROUND STORAGE TANK REMOVAL
The following information was obtained from review of public records for the subject property:
Building permits were issued for the subject property as 1905 East Charter Way to Standard Oil for
service station construction in early 1960 and for the demolition of two metal service station
buildings and four tanks in December 1970. The location of the former service station was shown
at the southwestern comer of the property; AGE has no direct information whether the tanks were
removed.
In November 1990, one 12,000 gallon diesel UST was removed from the central portion of the
subject property.Analytical results of soil samples collected from UST excavation noted non-detect
or below Maximum Contaminant Levels (MCL) for kerosene, motor oil, diesel and BTEX
compounds(benzene,toluene,ethyl-benzene and total xylenes).Field notes from an inspector from
the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department(EHD)did not indicate any discoloration
or odor.
In addition,AGE viewed a 1970/72 Sanborn Fire Insurance Map which showed two structures and
a canopy,plus a"Gas and Oil'notation,on the subject property location;the structures and canopy
matched features depicted on 1993 and 1970 aerial photographs.
3.0. SCOPE OF WORK
AGE proposes to collect soil and ground water samples to determine if petroleum
hydrocarbon-impacted soil and/or ground water is present beneath the site. The preliminary site
assessment will include the following tasks:
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
