■AL1 INC <br /> B. Site Control <br /> Initial Site Entry <br /> The Project Manager shall arrange an initial site brief ng with the Health and Safety Officer <br /> (HSO). Based on the information provided in this ini dal site briefing and on the nature of <br /> magnitude of known or suspected site contaminants arid the work plan tasks,the HSO shall <br /> determine initial site entry procedures and shall speci them below. It is the responsibility of <br /> the Site Safety Officer(SSO)to implement these procedures and direct proper site entry. <br /> Personal Protective Equipment(PPE) ensemble for personnel to wear during initial site entry: <br /> Level "D" with respirator available. Respirator sha 1 be half-mask with organic vapor <br /> cartridges (color-coded black and gray) <br /> If Level"C"PPE is required for-initial site entry, then all personnel MUST carry a five-minute <br /> escape air bottle. <br /> Initial Site Entry Procedures: <br /> Level "D"PPE and as outlined below. Air monitori g with portable photo ionization detector. <br /> Prior to entering the site, the SSO shall calibrate the portable direct-reading air monitoring <br /> instruments upwind from site in an uncontaminated area. <br /> The SSO shall then determine background readings f r all air monitoring instruments in this <br /> same upwind, offsite, uncontaminated area. <br /> 08420010.001 APPENDIX III <br /> 9 <br />
