The site is on the northwest
corner of the intersection of Lodi Avenue and South Cherokee Lane.as,9hown on the Site
Vicinity Map (Plate P-1).
Three soil borings (B-1 through B-3) were drilled gear the former waste-oil cavity between
May 30 and June 1, 1990, in accordance with our Work Plan dated April 23, 1990. The
approximate locations of the soil borings along with other site characteristics are shown on
the Generalized Site Plan (Plate P-2).
Tables 1 and 2 summarize the laboratory results of our May investigation: copies of the
laboratory reports and chain of custodies are attached. Laboratory analyses indicate the
concentration of total oil and grease (TOG) was below detection limits in the soil sample
at 25 feet below grade in boring B-1 (S-25-131),and at 15 feet below grade in boring B-2(S-
15-132) and in boring B-3 (S-15-B3). These analyses delineate the vertical extent of waste
oil in soil. Soil samples collected at 35, 45 and 55 feet below grade and submitted to the
laboratory for total petroleum hydrocarbon, benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and total xylene
isomers analyses were submitted to the laboratory after the holding time expired.
Laboratory analyses indicate the lateral extent of the total oil and grease in soil was not
defined south of the former waste-oil tank cavity. Results indicate concentrations of 303
parts per million (ppm) of TOG in the soil sample collected at 10 below grade (S-10-B3).
„ Laboratory analysis of a soil sample from 20 feet below grade in baring B-i (5-20-81)
