Cherokee Lane <br /> t <br /> Lodi, California <br /> Dear Ms Lagono <br /> URS Corporation Americas (URS), on behalf of Atlantic Richfield Company (ARCO—a BP affiliated <br /> company), has prepared this report to document the site assessment activities conducted at former <br /> ARCO Service Station No 760, at 225 S Cherokee Lane, Lodi, California(Figure 1) URS also is <br /> requesting that this site be considered for closure <br /> The assessment was conducted in response to a letter from the San Joaquin County Environmental - <br /> Health Department (SJCEHD) dated November 17, 2003, requesting evaluation of the lateral and <br /> vertical extent of 1,2-dichloroethane (1,2-DCA) in the groundwater beneath the site Assessment <br /> activities were conducted in accordance with the soil and groundwater sampling scope of work <br /> described in the Site Assessment Report and Workplan for Additional Assessment submitted by URS on <br /> October 11, 2004, to the SJCEHD The workplan was approved on October 14, 2004 Soil boring <br /> permits, correspondence from SJCEHD, and encroachment permits from the City of Lodi are included <br /> in Attachment A The following pages present site background, assessment activities and findings, and <br /> conclusions and recommendations <br /> SITE BACKGROUND <br /> The site is a former ARCO gasoline station, with an AM/PM nuni-mart, located at 225 S Cherokee <br /> Lane in Lodi, California (Figure 1) The site is bound by an alley to the north,Lodi Avenue to the south, <br /> residential property to the west, and S Cherokee Lane to the east (Figure 2) As part of divestment <br /> activities, under URS supervision, all underground storage tanks (USTs), dispensers and associated <br /> piping were removed in August 2002 The site is currently operated as a used car dealership <br /> Analytical results of groundwater samples collected from three on site monitoring wells between <br /> October 2002 and July 2003 identified the presence of 1,2-DCA at the site On March 22 and 23, 2004, <br /> phase I of a 2-phase site assessment was conducted Three off-site vertical soil borings ( B-25, B-26, and <br /> B-27) were advanced to depths of 65 feet below ground surface (bgs), and depth-discrete soil and grab <br /> groundwater samples were collected to assess the western and southern lateral extent of 1,2-DCA in <br /> groundwater beneath the site Analytical data from the March 2004 investigation determined that the <br /> western extent of 1,2-DCA-impacted groundwater was not yet defined and that more sampling would be <br /> f' h <br /> ss URS Corporation <br /> Crown Corporate Center <br /> 2870 Gateway Oaks Drive Suite 300 <br /> Sacramento CA 95833 <br /> Tel 916 679 2000 <br /> Fax 916 679 2900 K 1WprocessV5 BP ARCb10076012004 Assessment1760 additional assessment report 04 doc <br />
